Description
Jacquard loom, in weaving, device incorporated in special looms to control individual warp yarns. It used punched cards to produce fabrics having intricate woven patterns such as tapestry, brocade, and damask. Its use of punch cards was adapted for use in 19th- and 20th-century computers.
