D&RGW RR Rio Grande Brass Presentation Locomotive Bell – Southwest
This very beautiful and original brass locomotive bell was once a part of the D&RGW Rio Grande family. Even before that, though, it was a part of the D&SL, or Denver and Salt Lake (D&SL was eventually bought out by D&RGW). This bell was presented to R.O. Williams, 1929 - 1974. This is printed on the bell itself, and on part of the yoke the letters D&SL are cast. Near the bottom of the yoke it is marked 12A19. The overall dimensions of this grand bell are: 25 tall and 28 wide at the widest point. The brass bell itself is 16 3/4 in diameter and 13 tall. There is some very minor surface pitting on the lower right side of the bell (see picture). This presentation bell is a great piece of locomotive history to add to your collection, but don't stub your toe on it. It is one heavy booger!
