Description
The Southern Pacific Class P-8 is a class of 15 4-6-2 "Pacific" type steam locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1921 for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In the 1920s, the Southern Pacific Railroad needed more motive power for passanger usage on the Overland Route from Ogden, Utah, to Oakland, California.
