Vintage Horse Brass of a Staffordshire knot inside a heart. The Stafford knot, more commonly known as the Staffordshire knot, is a distinctive three-looped knot that is the traditional symbol of the English county of Staffordshire and of its county town, Stafford. It is a particular representation of the simple overhand knot, the most basic knot of all. A very Impressive Collectable Item with lovely detail. A horse brass is a brass plaque which was used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. Horse Brasses became very popular in England between the mid-19th century until their decline alongside the use of the draft horse, but they have now become a collectors item and they make lovely wall hanging and often can be found decorating pub and Inn walls. Folk-lore and myths suggest the brasses were used as amulets to ward off the “evil eye” and so they are sometime regarded as a good luck charm. Lovely addition to a horse brass collection. On multiple purchases I refund any excess postage paid. Approx 4.25 inches high x 3.25" wide Weighs 96 grams ~♥~~♥~..~♥~..~♥~~♥~ All items are second hand, vintage or antique so please be aware that these items come with the nuances of age which gives them their character.
